In a groundbreaking move towards educational enhancement, Malabon City took a significant step by launching the MATATAG Curriculum, also known as the Revised K-10 program. This momentous event unfolded at the Tinajeros National High School, marked by the presence of Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, alongside Bureau of Learning Delivery Director Leila Pinera Areola and Office of the Undersecretary for Curriculum and Teaching Usec. Gina Gonong.

What sets this initiative apart is that Malabon City, out of all the cities in the bustling National Capital Region (NCR), was designated by the Department of Education (DepEd) to spearhead the Pilot Run of the MATATAG program. This pilot run signifies a bold move towards revamping the educational landscape in the city.

The MATATAG Curriculum was conceived with a clear vision in mind – to streamline the existing curriculum and make it more efficient, responsive, and relevant to the needs of students.

This is accomplished by focusing on a curated selection of 3,000 essential learning competencies, a significant reduction from the previous 11,000. The aim is to deliver quality education in a more streamlined and effective manner.

Mayor Sandoval, in her statement, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated educators and administrators who wholeheartedly embraced and contributed to the success of the Pilot Run. She underscored that Malabon City is resolutely committed to providing the kind of education that every student rightfully deserves.

This innovative curriculum represents a giant leap forward in education in Malabon City. It is not just about reducing the number of learning competencies; it's about ensuring that students receive a well-rounded education that prepares them for the challenges of the future.

As the MATATAG Curriculum takes root and matures, it holds the promise of transforming education in the city, offering students an educational experience that equips them for success in the dynamic world that awaits.
