Central Signal champion in Taguig's 9th Inter-Barangay Fire Olympic
Central Signal emerged victorious as the overall champion in the 9th Inter-Barangay Fire Olympics, which concluded on March 23, while Hagonoy and Napindan secured the second and third places, respectively. The Olympics is a way of commemorating National Fire Prevention Month and in line with Mayor Lani Cayetano's goal of equipping barangays with the appropriate knowledge and skills to ensure the safety of Taguigueños in any type of disaster.
Organized by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the 28 barangays of Taguig competed in various events from March 22. Apart from the Top 3, recognition was also given to the barangays that excelled in each event. Hagonoy won the Hose Laying and Busted Hose Replacement, which tests agility and teamwork in using the fire hose, as well as the Tug of War event. Central Signal took home the championship in the Blitz Attack event, which measures strength using a 2.5-inch hoseline. Napindan emerged as the winner in the Bucket Relay, a competition to fill a 50-gallon water tank as fast as possible.
The Fire Olympics is an annual activity that assesses and enhances the capabilities and teamwork of the BFP, CDRRMO, barangay officials, and volunteer firefighters from various companies, industries, and organized brigades in responding to fire incidents.
The City of Taguig continues to conduct activities for preparedness, prevention, response, and recovery in the face of destructive fires to ensure the safety of every Taguigueño.
