Parañaque mayor welcomes Sri-Lankan officials, ADB delegates

Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez warmly welcomed the delegation from the Embassy of Sri-Lanka in the Philippines and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) during their visit to the Parañaque City Hall yesterday. The officials of Sri-Lanka, led by Minister of Health Hon. Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella, and the ADB, led by Principal Health Specialist Dr. Eduardo Banzon, came to discuss the best practices of the city's healthcare system.

Mayor Eric shared the city's continuous efforts in providing free and accessible healthcare services to its residents, such as the free services offered by Ospital ng Parañaque I in Barangay La Huerta and Ospital ng Parañaque II in Barangay Don Bosco. Additionally, Parañaque City has nine private hospitals, including the Medical Center Parañaque which specializes in treating cancer patients.

The Mayor also invited the guests to visit the city's 16 barangay health centers to witness the prompt delivery of medical services to residents.

The Sri Lankan delegation included State Minister of Finance Hon. Shehan Semasinghe, State Minister of Health Hon. Dr. Seetha Arambepola, Parliament Members Hon. Madura Vithanage, Hon. Dr. Kavinda Jayewardena, Hon. Dr. Gayashan Nawananda, Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena, and Institute of Policy Studies Executive Director Dr. Dushi Weerakoon.

Meanwhile, the ADB officials who were present were Health Specialist Mr. Dai Ling Chen, Analyst Mariangela Paz Medina, Health Security Consultant Jeremy Gorospe, M&E Consultant Marc Miranda, Public Health Consultant Dr. Denese de Guzman, and Health System Consultant Dr. Michael Caampued.

The meeting aimed to strengthen the ties between the Sri Lankan Embassy and the ADB with Parañaque City and explore potential partnerships that could enhance the city's healthcare system further.
