Malabon won't reopen cinemas

Malabon City has no plans on reopening of cinemas and gaming arcades in the city, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.

City Public Information Office (PIO) head, Bong Padua, said Friday that operators should seek advice and approval from the local government first before reopening.

Padua said operators should coordinate with the local government because there is a rising number of COVID-19 cases in the city recently.

Arcades, Padua added, will also not be allowed to operate yet as minors are still prohibited from going outside.

“Meron kaming gaming arcade pero sa ngayon pinag-aaralan pa, palagay ko kailangan makipag ugnayan sila dito… Alam mo naman ang mga bata hindi pa pwede, yung gaming arcades naglalaro dun karamihan bata eh (We have gaming arcades here. But for now, we still need to evaluate if we will allow them to open. I think, operators need to coordinate with us first, because children, who are mostly the customers of arcades, are not yet allowed to go out),” he said.

As of Thursday (March 4), the city has reported a total of 7,098 positive cases; 415 of which are active.
