Makati students showcase artistic talent in poster-making
Makati City - As part of the global observance of World No Tobacco Day, the Makati Health Department's Environmental Health and Sanitation Division organized a poster-making contest for Grades 4 and 5 students. The competition aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and promote a smoke-free environment among the youth.
The event saw the active participation of talented young artists from various schools in Makati City. Among the standout winners were Freyanne Salvador, Arabella Ogalesco, and Jamie Peñaflor, all representing Comembo Elementary School. Their exceptional artistic skills and creativity earned them the grand prize in the contest.
The poster-making contest served as a platform for the young participants to express their thoughts and sentiments about the dangers of tobacco use. Through their artwork, they conveyed powerful messages urging individuals to stay away from smoking and embrace a healthier lifestyle.

The event was graced by the presence of esteemed officials from the Makati Health Department. Dr. Leeron Borja, Dr. Kairelle Chua, Dr. Alvin Gamulo, Dr. Jerome David, Dr. Camilo Carlos, Dr. Janette Bajo, Ms. Joseliza Benedicto, Ms. Rae Lissette Roldan, and Mr. Benzon Sanchez of the Environmental Health and Sanitation Division all attended the contest. Also present was Ms. Jasmin Lagahit, the MMDA Project Manager, who joined the event to show support for the advocacy.
The Makati Health Department officials expressed their delight in witnessing the talent and creativity displayed by the young participants. They commended the students for their commitment to spreading awareness about the dangers of tobacco use and encouraged them to continue advocating for a smoke-free environment.
